Throughout March Ƶ is focusing on championing registered managers with their latest campaign.

Running across their website, social media, and other communications channels the campaign will be celebrating and supporting registered managers.

Registered managers are at the heart of their organisations. They play a vital role in ensuring the highest quality of care for people drawing on support and in supporting their team to be happy and effective in their roles.

From our data we know that turnover rates among staff are lower when an experienced registered manager is in post, and services with a stable registered manager in place also have higher Care Quality Commission (CQC) scores.

This shows how important registered managers are to the success of both their service and their teams.

Ƶ has a range of support available for registered managers for now and the future, this includes local networks, a membership offer, regular webinars and the popular ‘The care exchange’ podcast.

In 2022/23 there were around 25,000 registered managers in post. Ƶ’s states that services with a stable registered manager in place have higher Care Quality Commission (CQC) scores, and turnover rates are lower when an experienced registered manager is in post. This highlights how key the role of the registered manager is in running an effective care service.

The Championing Registered Managers campaign will acknowledge the important role of registered managers, signpost to the wide range of support and resources which Ƶ has available for registered managers, and provide tailored information on key issues which registered managers are looking for support with right now.

This includes changes to CQC assessments as well as a broader look at managing change and succession planning. With 32% of registered managers reaching retirement age in the next 15 years, succession planning is vital in sustaining the workforce of the future.

The campaign will include blogs and real life insights on these topics from registered managers and other social care experts.

Georgina Turner, Director of Engagement, Ƶ says:

Registered managers really are at the heart of high-quality care. We know from our close connections across England with registered managers just how rewarding and complex their job can be, and that’s why we offer a wide range of support for registered managers across all elements of their role. We’re excited to launch this campaign focused on highlighting that vital role of registered managers and signposting to the support and information that we know many registered managers find incredibly useful in their roles.”
